WestCoast Children's Clinic is Hiring a Foster Youth Center Manager (Overnight) Near Hayward, CA

As a member of the dynamic STAT Program leadership team, the Overnight Assessment Center (AC) Supervising Manager takes the lead in providing crucial supervision and management oversight, specifically during the overnight shifts, to our dedicated team of Support Counselors who engage with clients in a dynamic milieu setting. This pivotal role includes guiding our child support counselor staff in their responsive approach to clients navigating varying levels of trauma while anticipating placement in foster homes, group homes, or with relatives. Additionally, the position serves as a proactive liaison, collaborating seamlessly with other WCC programs, Social Services staff, and external partners to coordinate client placements and maintain the continuity of client care.

The STAT Program (Screening, Stabilization, and Transition) delivers round-the-clock mental health support to children and youth aged 0 to 21 upon their initial removal from homes due to abuse or neglect. Our commitment is to assist them in managing the traumas associated with abuse and neglect, all while striving to mitigate the effects of separation from their family, home, and community.

As an Overnight AC Supervising Manager, you will:

  • Oversee the milieu, collaborating closely with Shift Team Leaders to address youth needs, foster a healthy transitional environment, and attend to immediate physical and psychological requirements.
  • Manage Support Counselors, ensuring high-quality performance in therapeutic interactions, documentation, and collaboration with the care team.
  • Contribute to the Training, Development, and Evaluation of STAT team members.
  • Support regular shift debriefings for collaborative planning and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to advocate for the understanding of milieu needs in multidisciplinary work.
  • Assist in the hiring and evaluation processes for Support Counselor staff.
  • Facilitate information exchange between WCC Programs and County partners for client placement coordination and care continuity.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide emergency scheduling coverage and address staffing needs.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field preferred. Licensing or eligibility for licensing is a plus.
  • Current registration or qualification to register with the BBS or Board of Psychology, with 1-2 years of clinical work experience post-graduate degree.
  • Supervisory experience required or demonstrated progressive responsibilities in prior employment.
  • Knowledge of attachment theory, brief psychotherapy modalities, early childhood and adolescent development, trauma, and principles of milieu therapy.
  • Preferred experience in hospital, therapeutic milieu, or residential mental health settings for youth.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary contexts and effective team collaboration.
  • Exemplary interpersonal communication skills with diverse staff and client populations, discretion in messaging.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Demonstrated sound work ethics and flexibility.
  • Maintain professionalism in interactions with WCC staff, management, AC, and County stakeholders.
  • Ability to self-initiate, work independently, and collaborate as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Medi-Cal reimbursement procedures and billing preferred.

Position Details and Compensation:

  • This is a full-time, exempt position located at the Assessment Center in Hayward, CA. Salary range for the overnight role is $79,200-$84,700 per year depending on experience and licensure, plus $5,500 additional signing bonus.
  • Includes benefits package, 403b and performance-based compensation plans.
