Westchester Medical Center is Hiring an Ultrasound Tech Near Kingston, NY

To provide the department of Diagnostic Imaging with high quality ultrasound exams, at the same time, providing the patient with the highest standard of care.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs Multiple Ultrasound exams in the areas of Ob-gyn, abdominal, and vascular, using the correct technical skills.
  • Able to recognize significant anatomical structures, differentiating between normal and abnormal anatomy and artifacts.
  • Interacts with staff Physicians and radiologists to produce high quality patient exams, to provide quality patient care using all pertinent clinical data (history, prior exams). Refers anything unusual to the radiologists for evaluation, action or follow-up.
  • Follows set protocols that are patient specific. Able to adapt to changes when necessary.
  • Maintains accurate records pertinent to patients and equipment. Utilizes the RIS and HIS to its fullest capacity. Ensures all patient data in PACS is accurate.
  • Uses Hospital resources wisely. Demonstrates respect of property, taking care not to damage equipment.
  • Keeps supplies and linens stocked in exam rooms. Fills cidex sterilization containers and removes probes.
  • Rotates "on call" and holiday scheduling as needed. Able to flex scheduling to suit the needs of the Hospital and the department.
  • Participates in department CQI and QA programs. Participates in data collection. Ensures all PACS QA issues are resolved.
  • Identify patient scheduling and testing needs, match to available resources and communicate the assignment and schedule. Insure tracking to ensure compliance.

Qualification/ Requirements:
EXPERIENCE

  • Two years experience preferred in OB/GYN, abdominal, small parts and vascular sonography.

EDUCATION

  • High School graduate or equivalent required. Graduate from an accredited Radiology, and/or Ultrasound program.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Cross training into Ultrasound from Diagnostic Imaging, and from Ultrasound into other modalities is acceptable if licensure permits.
  • Applicants must be registered or registry eligible by the A.R.D.M.S./ARRT Ob-gyn, abdominal, and vascular preferred.

OTHER

  • Memberships in professional Organizations. Must keep current CMEs for licensure. ARDMS Registry is mandated for ACR accreditation. Employees must comply with ACR regulations on certification.
