We provide evidence-based integrated treatment for individuals and families living with mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Men come from all over the country for our specialized treatment and we fully integrate both family and community into every stage of the treatment process. We provide an effective healing atmosphere for our participants and fully support them through their journey of recovery. For dually diagnosed men over 18 and their families, our programs provide more than treatment, they provide hope.

Summary Job Description:

The Per Diem/Standby Support provides supportive services directly to participants of WestBridge’s residential or Community Integration Program (CIP). These programs provide treatment to individuals who experience severe and persistent mental illness with or without co-occurring substance use disorders in order to maximize their recovery. Staff work to ensure consumer-directed goal setting, assist the individual served to gain hope and a sense of empowerment, and provide assistance in helping the individuals served become respected and valued members of their family and community.

Per Diem/Standby Support Staff are required to work a minimum of 4 shifts/month, which may be a combination of shifts worked and standby shifts based upon the needs of the programs. Standby shifts are scheduled starting on Friday evenings (10pm) through Sunday evenings (10:30pm), and the shifts include day (from 7:30am-10:30pm) and overnight (10pm-8am). Additionally, there are six recognized holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) that will also be staffed with standby. Per Diem/Standby Support staff are asked to commit to at least one holiday/year.

Primary Duties:

  • When committed to a standby shift, must respond to phone call within 15 minutes, and able to report to work as soon as possible, but within no more than one hour from request.
  • Clinical duties are based on scope of practice and experience; they could include but are not limited to assessment, individual and group engagements, and case management for individuals and their families.
  • When in the residential setting, collaboratively support the residential milieu & uphold principles of a modified therapeutic community.
  • When in the community setting, collaboratively support CIP’s underlying principles of Assertive Community Treatment.
  • Actively Participates in open, direct, solution-focused communication with participants, families and team members.
  • Works side by side with participants to engage in activities that include but are not limited to housekeeping duties, hygiene, wellness, recreation and other recovery-oriented community activities.
  • Ongoing assessment of participants for changes in symptoms associated with mental health diagnosis and substance use disorders, and provides crisis intervention as needed.
  • Engages in tasks that support the safety of the residential, office, or community environment; depending on the setting and training provided this may include but is not limited to perimeter checks, rounds, arming/disarming alarm, drug screening, etc. These are all done in accordance to WestBridge policies and procedures.
  • With proper training, may provide participants access to their medications and monitor the Participants’ self-administration of medications.
  • Documents services provided in accordance with WestBridge policies and systems.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

To perform this position successfully, you must perform each essential duty responsibly and satisfactorily.   • Knowledge obtained through completion or in pursuit of an Associate/Bachelor/Masters in appropriate discipline (i.e. social work, mental health counseling) from accredited institution. Work experience equivalent also acceptable.
  • Knowledge and experience in the treatment of mental illness and substance-use, preferably co-occurring.
  • Knowledge and skill in maintaining care that is trauma-informed and recovery-oriented.
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations governing confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal program administration regulations.
  • Skill in working and communicating with others as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates a high standard of professional conduct and ethical behavior that will enhance the quality of care and encourage positive interactions among staff.
  • Valid drivers’ license and appropriate vehicle insurance coverage of: 100,000 bodily injury per person/300,000 bodily injury per accident/100,000 property damage.
  • Computer skills including but not limited to, Internet access, word processing, report writing and spreadsheet applications necessary to generate appropriate reports allocated to the position of Residential Counselor.
