Job Summary:
Westat is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Analyst to support financial planning, analysis, and reporting as part of Westat's FP&A Team. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager of Reporting and Indirect, the ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of financial management principles, government regulations, and a proven track record of supporting financial oversight within the context of government contracts.
This position has a hybrid work schedule to work 2-3 days at our office in Rockville, Maryland
Job Responsibilities:
* Contribute to multiple departments' planning, reporting, and analysis functions.
* Strategic and long-range planning for divisions and corporate requirements.
* Provide financial analysis and reporting on controllable metrics and measurements for divisional roll-ups.
* Coordinate, validate, and consolidate information for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual budgeting and forecasting.
* Collaborate with team and department leads to develop annual budgets aligned with organizational goals.
* Conduct financial forecasting to anticipate and address potential challenges related to indirect costs. Analyze trends, assess potential risks, and identify opportunities for financial improvement.
* Provide insightful financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
* Use models to simulate different financial scenarios and assess their impact on the organization's financial health.
* Communicate financial insights and trends to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
* Drive companywide financial literacy initiative.
* Improve and standardize budget and reporting processes and document procedures.
* Other duties as assigned by FP&A leadership or the CFO.
Basic Qualifications:
* Typically requires a bachelor's degree or and equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience in Government Contracting Finance.
* Experience with Deltek Costpoint and/or TM1 or similar forecasting tools.
* Familiarity with US government regulations concerning cost accounting standards.
* Demonstrated experience with Excel for data manipulation and analysis such as pivot tables, lookups, etc.
* Familiarity with different Indirect Rate applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience facilitating financial literacy training across the company.
* Experience interfacing with senior executives.
Other Required Qualifications:
* Demonstrated communication skills.
* Attention to quantitative detail.
* Collaboration with teams, managers and/or clients.
* Organization skills, including time management ability.
