West40 Intermediate Service Center #2 is Hiring a Math Professional Learning Specialist (Instructional Coach) Near Maywood, IL

Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Math Instructional Coach to join the Professional Learning Team at West40 ISC. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing targeted support and guidance to math teachers, aiming to enhance instructional strategies and boost student outcomes in mathematics, with a particular focus on supporting diverse learners. This position demands a deep understanding of math curriculum standards, effective and inclusive teaching practices, and the ability to foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment that accommodates the needs of all students.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in mathematics, with a proven track record of improving student achievement
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in teacher coaching or in a leadership role within an educational setting
  • Must be able to design and present professional learning experiences to large and small groups
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and influence others
  • Must have strong analytical skills to interpret data and inform instructional decisions
  • Must have proficiency in using technology to enhance math instruction
  • Must have the ability to work with a highly collaborative professional learning team

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to successfully lead the selection/creation/customization of professional learning to support and coach our diverse districts and partner entities.
  • Maintain ongoing, open communications with the Director of Professional Learning
  • Routinely offers creative/innovative suggestions for growth of position and department
  • Establish collaborative relationships with the district and building leadership to co-plan around their needs
  • Assure the set-up of service/project agreements and maintain accurate records for assigned projects/partnerships, including Toggl, Invoicing, Quarterly Validations, etc.
  • Represent West40 concerning statewide organizations and/or stakeholder groups and/or grant management
  • Ensure participants in PL events can sign in/out and acquire PDHs and CEUs.
  • Maintain a local active presence in the professional learning community by facilitating networks, communicating through listservs, and attending region-wide events within the West40 community.
  • Recognize topics of high interest to our districts and take charge of their own learning to offer those opportunities regularly.
  • Model, lead, coach, and develop professional learning experiences for West40 staff.
  • Collaborate with math teachers to plan, implement, and evaluate instructional methods and strategies to enhance student learning and achievement in mathematics.
  • Provide targeted professional development and coaching sessions for teachers, focusing on effective pedagogical approaches, integration of technology, and assessment techniques.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify areas for improvement and work with teachers to design and implement data-driven instructional changes.
  • Model exemplary classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
  • Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) among math teachers to encourage sharing ideas and strategies.
  • Stay updated with current educational research and best practices in math education and integrate this knowledge into coaching practices.
  • Assist with developing and aligning math curricula to state and national standards.
  • Promote a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement among teachers and students.
  • Other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
