West Windsor Township is Hiring an Engineering Technician Near Princeton, NJ

Under the supervision of an engineer or other supervisor, assists in the performance of public infrastructure projects, including project definition, design, and coordination with consultants and contractors. Maintains Township GIS and CAD systems. Responsible for grant applications and permit compliance.

  • Assist with design and construction phases of municipal capital projects.
  • Review engineering aspects of residential, commercial land development applications for compliance with municipal codes.
  • Review aspects of testimony at Site Plan Review Advisory Board and Planning Board meetings as required.
  • Monitor construction phase including inspections, punch lists, guarantee action recommendations.
  • Provide technical assistance to other Departments.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of municipal maps, record drawings, other official records.
  • Prepare resolutions, ordinance amendments and reports.
  • Manage record retention using State mandated schedules.
  • Perform additional duties and manage projects as directed.
  • Knowledge of public contracting procedures and familiarity with NJ Local Public Contracts Law and Regulation.
  • Knowledge of procedures applied in engineering activities and related technical operations.
  • Ability to use Geographic Information System software (ArcView GIS) and Computer Aided Drafting software (AutoCAD Civil 3D) to produce standard prints and ad-hoc plots for field requests containing specific information derived from the connected model and various other data sources.
  • Knowledge of the New Jersey Department of Taxation map requirements.
  • Ability to prepare technically sound, accurate, and informative reports of inspections, surveys, investigations, and analyses containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Ability to perform various types of complex examinations necessary for the design and/or construction of roads, parks, buildings, and structures including post-construction quantitative analyses.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers, supervisor, and with the public.
  • Ability to operate automated office equipment including, but no limited to printers, plotters, duplication machines, facsimile and scanners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite Products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

  • Two year degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology program
  • Three years technical experience performing engineering support tasks in the planning, surveying, design, inspection, investigation, and/or maintenance of various types of engineering projects
  • Possess a valid NJ Drivers License

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $69,739.00 - $94,838.00 per year

Expected hours: 35 per week
