YMCA Camp Chickami is a traditional summer day camp located in Wayland, MA. Founded in 1955, Camp Chickami has inspired kids with countless opportunities to laugh, lead and make lasting friendships. Together, our proven programs and trained counselors deliver meaningful and memorable camp experiences that keep families coming back year after year after year.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Operations Director is responsible for implementing and refining daily operations at Camp Chickami. This individual is directly responsible for the day-to-day operations and administrative management of all program areas. The Operations Director will work in conjunction with the leadership team and counselors to deliver an excellent camp experience to our campers in a safe and well-maintained facility. Supporting the Camp Director and Camp Assistant Director in various administrative tasks will be key to this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Work closely with Camp Director and Assistant Director to ensure smooth daily operations of camp.

Directly responsible for:

Completing daily attendance.

Monitoring phone lines and email inboxes.

Completing afternoon elective activity attendance lists.

Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to: Keep track of and reply to the primary camp email address in a professional and appropriate manner. Forward emails to camp director and other members of leadership, as necessary.

Work with Camp Director and Assistant Director to manage daily sign-in and sign-out procedures.

Track daily attendance, contact families to check on absent campers, create daily attendance reports, track and report no call/no shows.

Generate, update, and distribute all attendance documents for each session.

Create and manage all bus attendance lists; keep track of and communicate any changes. Contact families in case of uncertainty regarding camper transportation plans.

Ensure that afternoon elective sign ups are entered by 12pm daily; print and distribute afternoon attendance lists to staff mailboxes.

Handle all sensitive information in a confidential manner.

Maintain digital and manual filing systems.

Collaborate with camp leadership team on scheduling, supply ordering, and marketing/announcements of special events (LIT Trips, Family Nights, Special Events, Carnival, etc.)

Run errands as needed.

Actively participate in planning of staff training, meetings, etc.

Assist with supply ordering, especially office supplies.

Follow established health and safety standards of the YMCA, ACA, and Department of Public Health.

Participate in all programs, special events, family nights, overnights/sleep-unders, and other events as assigned.

Demonstrate professionalism in the role, including attendance, appearance, reliability, and general competence.

Help out with all camp activities and participate as a member of the camp staff team.

Demonstrate/teach the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to all campers and staff.

Follow all camp rules, regulations, and policies and enforce them among peers.

Maintain positive public relations with families, visitors, and the general public at all times.

Able to visually and audibly identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to assigned activities.

Able to respond appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid and/or CPR.

Submit all required paperwork on time.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

21-years-old or older.

High School graduate enrolled in college pursuing a social science/education degree or related field.

Proficient in Google suite, Microsoft excel, word, outlook. Experience with SGA and CampSite is a plus.

Excellent professional communication skills required.

Ability to supervise and motivate staff and campers.

Ability to handle assignments and follow through with minimal instruction and supervision.

Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable.

Positive attitude and desire to be part of a cohesive team.

Sound judgment, integrity, problem solving skills and risk management.

Human relation skills with general public and staff.

Strong understanding of characteristics and issues of specific age group.

Creative program planning and implementation.

Willingness to go above and beyond the written job description.

Current First Aid and Adult and Child CPR certifications.

Physical Demands:

Hear noises and work in fast paced environment that requires patience, focus and diligence.

Meet strength and lifting requirements of 25lbs.

See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
