West Central Education District has openings for support staff at a newly created program serving students with disabilities ages 18-22. The program will be located at a house in Paynesville near the High School.

The program will have 10 students, 1 teacher and 3 paraprofessionals. The paraprofessionals will be responsible for assisting the students with independent living skills at the home such as cleaning, cooking, recreation and leisure activities, and basic self help skills. The students will also be learning job skills and going to job sites to perform duties appropriate for their skills level. The paraprofessionals will go on the job sites with students to coach them in their performance. The paraprofessional may have the responsibility of driving a van and training will be provided if needed.

The SAIL program will have a calendar similar to a school district and the contract will include 180 days for paraprofessionals from late August to early June.

Paraprofessionals will need good communication skills, solid work ethics to demonstrate to the students including being to work on time, being prepared for work, having initiative and good independent work skills. Experience working with high school students with disabilities is preferred.
