New Teacher Support & Secondary Instructional Coordinator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with other coordinators/supervisors to develop instructional coaches’ meeting agendas.
• Identify areas of support needed unique to each school site and develop an action plan for support.
• Develop district-wide common initiative for new teacher support.
• Conduct walk-throughs of new teacher instruction
• Communicate with site leaders to determine key needs
• Create teacher-specific action plans
• Suggest and support mentors for new teachers.
• Support monthly professional development aligned to identified needs presented by teacher mentors.
• Collaborate with coaches to develop familiarity with the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET).
• Ensure inter-rater reliability
• Host trainings focused on indicators and key descriptors
• Conduct walk-throughs with secondary instructional coaches and/or principals.
• Classroom instruction

• Supplemental material 
• Calibration of expectations
• Assist in identifying trends needing to be addressed in secondary coaches’ meetings and new teacher meetings.
• Coordinate appropriate secondary professional development for new teachers in response to identified needs.
• Analyze and suggest updates to secondary classroom assessments; communicate with coaches when changes are made.
• Meet regularly with secondary principals to develop relationships and support work at each site.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree from an accredited university
• Valid Louisiana Type A or Level III teaching certificate in Secondary Grades
• Minimum of three to five years of experience working as an instructional coach or in an administrative role/capacity

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
