Literacy & Elementary Instructional Coordinator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the development of policies and procedures to assure budgetary and fiscal accountability.
• Assist in planning and implementing policies in regard to textbooks, and other instructional materials, pupil progression policies, and other instructional matters.
• Work with testing coordinators to determine methods to improve scores on the state testing.
• Assist elementary schools in the development and implementation of their school improvement plans.
• Evaluate elementary curriculum development and alignment.
• Ensure curriculum implementation/fidelity.
• Coordinate foundational literacy curriculum and reading comprehension.
• Confirm assessment mapping to ensure aligned pacing.
• Develop high-quality assessments for progress-monitoring.
• Encourage decisions around supplemental instructional materials.
• Collaborate about progress-monitoring measures including Head start tracking from year to year.
• Verify adherence to state requirements for training and monitoring.
• Conduct walk-throughs with elementary instructional coaches and/or principals.
• Classroom instruction: Curriculum alignment; Consistency across classrooms
• Professional Learning Communities: Coach conversations; Supplemental material; Calibration of expectations
• Identify trends needing to be addressed in elementary instructional coaches’ meetings.
• Coordinate appropriate elementary professional development in response to identified needs.
• Analyze and update elementary classroom assessments; communicate with coaches when changes are made.
• Meet regularly with elementary principals to develop relationships and support work at each site.
• Assist in identifying trends needing to be addressed in coaches’ meetings.
• Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree from an accredited university
• Valid Louisiana Type A or Level III teaching certificate in Elementary Grades
• Minimum of five years of experience working as an instructional coach or in an administrative role/capacity

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
