Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Chief Operating Officer of Wesley Woods Senior Living, Inc., the Executive Director leads the development and administrative operations of a large, complex Wesley Woods retirement community, including components of a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) or Life Plan community.
In collaboration with other Wesley Woods Communities and its services, the Executive Director effectively manages the programs and services of the retirement community leading a culture of person directed care that meets or exceeds resident expectations. The Executive Director is accountable for the programmatic and financial operation of the community ensuring compliance with governmental regulations and certification standards; leading, managing, and supporting the employees and volunteers of the community; and for the development and management of a market-oriented program of care and services.
Key Responsibilities
Planning – In conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer develops long-term and short-term strategic plans for the retirement community. Develops plans for new services at the community including licenses, permits, professional consulting, staffing, funding etc. as needed. The Executive Director maintains a current understanding of the work of Wesley Woods and the overall strategic plan, mission, vision, and values of Wesley Woods.
Operates – Operates the community with a philosophy of person-centered care. Effectively meeting or exceeding established regulatory requirements of the governmental agencies that oversee and regulate the services provided at the community. Directs the day-to-day administrative and management functions for all aspects of the community and staff, including dining and nutrition, physical plant, and resident programs to meet or exceed resident expectation.
Develops – Develops and oversees the community operating and capital budgets, obtaining approval from WWSL administration, appropriate boards, and governmental agencies. Develops and maintains needed processes and programs to successfully grow revenue and monitor expense in order to accomplish the mission of Wesley Woods.
Manages – Manages residential staff of 50-100 employees in accordance with WWSL Human Resources policies, providing competent and consistent leadership throughout the employment life cycle. Ensures staff are appropriately equipped and trained to effectively deliver the programs and services to residents. Ensures ongoing employee development through educational offerings as appropriate.
Relationships – Cultivates and maintains positive relationships with community and civic leaders. Works closely with Foundation staff members, Board, and volunteers on strategic and fundraising activities, cultivating relationships with established and prospective donors. Represents Wesley Woods as a subject matter expert as appropriate, making presentations to appropriate community groups, donor groups or churches.
Implements – Implements and monitors corporate policies and procedures relating to safety, risk management, finance, human resources, and fund raising. Assists in the development of company-wide policies and procedures, updating as needed.
Oversees – Oversees the construction, installation, or repair of capital improvements to community property. Leads the planning and implementation of construction and repair projects as needed and appropriate to deliver the programs and services to residents of the community.
Reports – Provides reports and/or related documents and materials to senior staff as needed. Maintains and provides appropriate documentation as required.
Professional Development – Pursues training and development opportunities, attending educational opportunities to keep current in developments important to the success of the program and to future strategic planning.
Professional Standards – Demonstrates consistent and exceptional professional work behavior.
