Wendy Hilliard Gymnastics Foundation is Hiring a Recreational Gymnastics Coach (Part-Time) Near New York, NY

*If you have a background in Sports, Yoga/Pilates, Cheerleading, and Dance you are more than welcome to apply! Training is available!*

The Recreational Gymnastics Coach will teach their students how to safely execute beginner, intermediate, and/or advanced gymnastics skills. The coach will report to the Gymnastics Supervisor and Operations Manager and perform the following responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise classes with boys and girls of different age groups and talents:
  • Teach skills and abilities at each apparatus, following our curriculum.
  • Lead and assist with the warm-up.
  • Ensure controlled class management.
  • Assess each gymnast's skills to determine Intermediate, Pre-Team, and Team readiness and report assessment to admin.
  • Set up and maintain a safe gym environment by adhering to safe practices for all equipment, ensure correct technique is used while spotting, adapt equipment for age, ability, and size of gymnast and be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Plan and come prepared by carrying a positive attitude, being on time for your scheduled shift, and wearing the appropriate coaching uniform (WHGF T-Shirt and black bottoms)
  • Maintain communications with administration regarding updates, changes to your contact information and availability, and student progress. Assist with incident reporting as needed.
  • Assist with choreography and events as needed.
  • Assist with WHGF Events (Harlem Gymnastics Invitational, WHGF Benefit, etc)

*Spring Schedule (February - June)

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 4:30pm-7:30pm, Saturdays 9:30-4:00pm

*There is a break for Spring break 4/22-4/27/24*

*Summer Schedule (July-August)

Monday - Friday 10:00-4:00 pm

Additional Requirements:

  • A love of kids and gymnastics.
  • Must have a working cell phone and email.
  • Must complete required certifications through USAG (Online)
  • Must complete background check (Online)
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds; physical activity involved in spotting and moving equipment: pulling, lifting, crouching, balancing, and climbing.
  • The ability to personably communicate with kids, parents/guardians, and staff.
  • Standard First-Aid Certification/CPR a plus!

Please note that this position may require occasional physical activity, such as climbing stairs or lifting light objects.
