Hello! Thank you for your interest in joining the Wellspring team as a part time Patient Account Specialist with the Behavioral Health program.

When you join our team as a Patient Account Specialist within the behavioral health program, you'll be part of a team of therapists and family support staff committed to supporting individuals in Lansing and Bay City as they address their mental health and wellness.

In this position, you'll bring a High School Diploma or equivalent. Additional education or certification in medical billing or related field is a plus.

You'll also bring experience in insurance billing and credentialing within a healthcare setting, familiarity with insurance terminology, knowledge of HIPAA, and prior experience in scheduling appointments and managing office tasks is preferred.

As a Patient Account Specialist, you will :

• Work with Accounts Receivable to ensure electronic health record is accurate, including patient demographics, diagnosis and insurance details
• Follow-up on outstanding claims and resolve any billing discrepancies
• Maintain knowledge of insurance billing procedures and regulations
• Manage the insurance credentialing process for the practice
• Monitor and track credentialing status with insurance companies
• Verify client insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments
• Communicate with clients regarding insurance information and coverage details
• Assist clients in understanding their insurance benefits and options
• Provide excellent customer service to clients, in-person, text and over the phone
• Address client inquiries and concerns regarding insurance, billing, and appointments
• Maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere for clients
• Update and maintain client information in the ECR / database accurately
• Ensure confidentiality and security of client records and insurance information
• Generate reports as needed for billing and credentialing purposes
• Schedule client appointments efficiently, taking into account provider availability and client preferences
• Confirm appointments and send reminders to clients as necessary
• Coordinate with providers and staff to manage appointment scheduling effectively
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically
• Assist with general office tasks such as filing, scanning, and organizing paperwork
• Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence related to insurance and billing
• Collaborate with other team members to maintain a well-functioning office environment
