About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Operational Risk Officer in Operational Risk Foundational Programs as part of the Operational Risk Measures, Metrics, & Monitoring Team.
Operational Risk Foundational Programs (ORFP) is responsible for defining and setting the methodology and standards for the operational risk foundational components, including but not limited to, internal control, risk assessment, operational risk events (internal & external), operational risk key risk indicators, self-assurance and independent monitoring, scenario analysis and stress testing. Operational Risk Foundational Programs is dedicated to providing direction, guidance, tools, and oversight to further enable effective operational risk management across the company.
In this role, you will:
Develop, implement, and monitor risk-based monitoring and metric programs to identify, assess, and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events
Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of metric and monitoring policies, procedures, processes, systems, and internal controls
Maintain a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency, working with US and WFIP leaders to execute a 24x7 operating model
Provide operational risk monitoring and metrics expertise and consulting to risk type teams and business aligned oversight groups
Design and coordinate the development and maintenance of procedure and training materials
Report program results and findings and develop business cases to influence executive management, management committee member or head of business on the need for controls to mitigate risk
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Evaluate data sources needed for metric creation and work with analytics team to ingest data and automate metric creation.
Conduct impact analysis on results from Risk appetite and key indicator measures to see how they impact company's risk capacity/appetite and inform strategic initiatives.
Provide ongoing guidance to front line groups, Risk type teams and Business aligned oversight groups on how to execute the requirements of the operational risk KRI program.
Required Qualifications:
5 years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
Oversight experience from the 2nd line of defense
Experience in one of these areas, including but not limited to data analysis, database management, statistical modeling, or other quantitative disciplines
Experience working with operational risk indicators and risk metrics
Strong understanding of regulatory environments and expectations related to risk metrics
Experience building partnerships, collaborating, and influencing at senior levels and across lines of business as well as with corporate partners
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
Ability to successfully partner with a diverse and geographically dispersed team
Self-motivated and able to adapt to dynamic work environment with multiple priorities and strict timeliness
Ability to develop and articulate sound proposals to key stakeholders, including ability to influence and drive timely decision making
Ability to translate ambiguous ideas/issues into well-defined plans/solutions
