Wellness and Care Group of Texas is Hiring a Medical Lab Technician Near Arlington, TX

We are looking for a qualified Lab Technician for our Urgent Care clinic in Arlington undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. You will be handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances and conduct tests reporting findings to a laboratory manager. The ideal candidate will have experience in working under possibly hazardous conditions (e. g. pathogens or chemicals). He/She will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward. The goal is to optimize lab procedures and succeed in producing reliable and important results that can be used to make a difference.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately performs and expeditiously reports laboratory tests, according to departmental policies, CLIA law, and regulatory standards.
  • Performs specimen analysis of all Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunology specimens
  • Maintains and operates all laboratory equipment performs daily weekly and monthly instrument maintenance as indicated
  • Adheres to the laboratory’s quality control policies and documents all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance. Records proper lot numbers of all controls, calibrators, and reagents
  • Assures test accuracy by performing and recording control testing, in accordance with a departmental policy on each shift, as observed by the department supervisor.
  • Performs tests in accordance with department policy and reports result in a timely manner, as documented in test records.
  • Investigates problems and takes initiative in resolving them, both technical and non-technical, and communicates the outcome to the appropriate individual.
  • Reviews the integrity of report by checking legibility, completeness, and credibility of results prior to releasing
  • Accurately performs, records transcribes or reviews proficiency testing material by the stated deadline, according to laboratory policy and CLIA law, as evidenced in the survey evaluation results.
  • Maintains instrumentation and department supplies in order to ensure efficient departmental operations.
  • Participates in assigned proficiency surveys, performance improvement activities, and mandatory continuing education programs as requested and/or required.
  • Restocks department supplies on a regular basis to ensure the adequacy of inventory, as documented on the department checklist.
  • Answers telephone and pages promptly and in a courteous manner, identifying self and the department at all times.
  • Maintains necessary continuing education credits, keeps required competencies current, and maintains valid ASCP/AMT Certification.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have an Associate degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or related science.
  • Valid ASCP or AMT certification
  • At least one year of experience is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • Holidays
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Phlebotomy: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CNA (Preferred)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
  • Medical Technologist (Preferred)
