NON-CDL DRIVER (Full-time)

Terms of Employment
Full-time, 174 days, 6 hours per day. Salary is based on experience and per our Classified Salary Schedule (Non CDL Drivers $18.29 - $27.92). The District provides its employees with a comprehensive benefits program including medical, life, and dental insurance. The District provides three medical plans for which it pays the full premium for employees, and a fourth option is a buy-up plan for which the district pays the majority of the premium. In addition, the District pays the full employee premium for dental insurance and life insurance. The District contributes to PERA on each employee's behalf and offers additional retirement savings options as well as optional supplemental insurance. Employees also receive paid time off. Worker’s compensation and unemployment insurance are provided in accordance with State law. 

Position Purpose
This position is a dual role of driver and paraprofessional. Typically, 4 hours per day will be spent as a driver and 2 hours per day will be spent at a school or the administration building working as a paraprofessional. Depending on the location the responsibilities may vary.
Under the general supervision of the Transportation Director, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips. Under the general supervision of the building principal, to supervise and assist students in a classroom or lunchroom setting if working in a school. If working in the Administration Building, responsibilities may vary.

Summary
Responsible for driving students to and from schools located outside of the Weld RE-5J School District. Other routes may be assigned that do not require a CDL driver. Some of these routes may span a distance of greater than 50 miles (one-way).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Drive routes that do not require a CDL
  • Maintain and promote professional defensive driving attitude
  • Daily pre and post trip inspections
  • Maintain proper student discipline per Board policy
  • Maintain appropriate communication with supervisor, school and parents regarding student behavior
  • Assist transportation department with other duties, including utility work such as cleaning vehicles, building, and equipment, etc.
  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Confidential Information
  • Staff members shall not access, receive, transmit or retransmit material regarding students, parents/guardians or district employees that is protected by confidentiality laws.
  • If material is not legally protected but is of a confidential or sensitive nature, great care shall be taken to ensure that only those with a “need to know” are allowed access to the material.
  • Staff members shall handle all employee, student, and district records in accordance with applicable district policies.
  • Staff members who intentionally disclose student records, other confidential student information and/or district information may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
Education and Related Work Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience driving students preferred
Licenses/Certifications
  • Criminal background check
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License
  • Current first aid and CPR card
  • Employee could be subject to drug and alcohol screening
  • Small Vehicle Training Completed within one month of hire
