Position Overview
The Weld RE-5J school district is seeking a highly motivated and talented High School student to join our team. This opportunity will provide valuable hands-on experience and exposure to various aspects of marketing and promotion while working in a professional environment. The Student Photographer will assist with aspects of event photography as well as photographs and for marketing and promotional materials. This position demands outstanding communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and multitasking capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Attend campus events, including student activities, sports games, performances, and ceremonies, to capture photos that highlight the atmosphere and spirit of the event
  • Take portraits of students, faculty, and staff for various purposes, promotional materials, and website profiles
  • Edit and retouch photos as needed to ensure high quality and consistency. This may include color correction, cropping, and enhancement using photo editing software
  • Organize and maintain a digital library of photos, ensuring that images are properly labeled, categorized, and archived for easy retrieval
  • Maintain photography equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, and accessories, to ensure optimal performance and longevity

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities
  • Currently enrolled in a high school program, preferably with a focus on information digital media related fields
  • Proficient in digital photography techniques, including composition, lighting, and camera settings
  • Experience with both indoor and outdoor photography is preferred
  • Familiarity with photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or similar programs. 
  • Ability to edit and retouch photos to achieve desired effects.
  • Strong creative vision and the ability to conceptualize and execute visually compelling photo concepts
  • A portfolio demonstrating a range of photography styles and techniques is required.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to capture decisive moments and convey emotion through photography
  • Strong organizational skills for managing digital files and metadata
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and subjects
  • Professional demeanor and customer service orientation
  • Dependable and punctual, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate event schedules
  • Knowledge of photography equipment

Education and Training  Preference will be given to students who have successfully completed Digital Media or Foundations of Design, Multimedia Arts, & Digital Communication. Students should be enrolled in Work-based Learning: Digital Media and Communications in the 2024-2025 school year.. A portfolio of at least 10 photos should be included in the application along with a brief explanation.

    laws.
  • If material is not legally protected but is of a confidential or sensitive nature, great care shall be taken to ensure that only those with a “need to know” are allowed access to
    the material. 
  • Staff members shall handle all employee, student, and district records in accordance with applicable district policies.
  • Staff members who intentionally disclose student records, other confidential student information and/or district information may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination

Physical Demands 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Qualifications Profile/Education/Experience
  • Must be a current Roosevelt High School student
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver's license or be able to provide your own transportation
