A position has been declared open in the Weber School District in Maintenance for a Maintenance Assistant. This position is for 8 hours per day, 12 months per year.

Purpose Statement:

The job of Maintenance Assistant was established for the purpose/s of maintaining facilities for students, staff, and
public in a safe operating condition; performing preventive maintenance; and resolving immediate operational and/or
safety concerns.

Essential Functions:

• Assists HVAC Department with HVAC equipment, fans, vents and filters.
• Assists with the HVAC filter program. Delivers filters to facilities and tracks progress with filter changes.
• Assists in the demolition of (e.g. equipment, facilities, and structures) for the purpose of ensuring safety and/or
preparing for new construction.
• Assists journey -level craftsmen (e.g. HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, etc.) for the purpose of supporting
them in the completion or their work activities.
• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work
activities. (Example. HVAC equipment, filter, bearings and motors.)
• Assists with snow removal (e.g. shovels, operates snow blower and/or snowplow) for the purpose of ensuring a safe
environment.
• Estimates repair or construction requirements for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials and equipment
as needed.
• Maintains work areas, tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring a safe working environment and/or the
availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
• Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of
materials required at the job site.

Physical Demands: 

Very heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force
frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also requires the following
physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions; balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling,
fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion,
speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.

Working Conditions :

Employees in this position work in a dynamic environment that requires them to be sensitive to change and
responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Will work on Ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.

Job Requirements: Minimum QualificationsSkills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Must have some knowledge of HVAC systems.
• Must be able to operate equipment used in trade including general hand and power tools, saws, threaders, manlift,
  forklift, etc.
• Must have knowledge of safety practices and procedures; and health standards and hazards.
• Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities; and meeting deadlines and schedules.

Experience: 3-4 Years experience preferedEducation: High school or equivalent.
