Senior Strategic Communications

Job purpose

The Senior Strategic Communications plans and creates products to support government objectives and goals.

Duties and responsibilities

• Establishes production estimates and recommendations.
• Oversees and guides the efforts of journeyman developers.
• Develops and communicates presentations at the Flag Officer/General Office and senior civilian level.
• Ensures conformity with Joint Staff and JKO strategic communication guidelines and focus.
• Coordinates with Joint Staff strategic communications specialists and JKO customers to develop understanding of requirements and customer focus.
• Provide senior level experience in the development of strategic communications campaigns, marketing, and public relations.

Qualifications

• Significant experience with and understanding of Department of Defense organization, structure, ranks, processes, procedures, and administrative methods.
• Joint Staff or Joint duty experience.
• Experience using distributed education technology, social media, and web-based information systems.
• Experience with “user experience” (UX) development, processes, techniques and procedures.
• Experience managing a small team to develop schedules, meet deadlines, and produce quality products appropriate to the intended audience.
• Experience with learning management technology and the ability to extrapolate areas for inclusion of new and evolving technology.
• Strong managerial, meeting management, and strategic planning skills.
• Expert ability to develop written and oral communications to Senior DoD leadership (FO/GO and senior civilians.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher.

Years of Relative Work Experience

• 2-3 years experience in communications field.
