Overall objective Manage all finance and accounting functions for the organization, assuring timely and accurate reporting and compliance.Participate in overall success of the cooperative as a member of the Senior Management Team.
Primary Duties
Accounting for all business units and corporate reporting. This includes:
Prepare monthly financial statements for all units of the business. Review all trends, costs, margins and other key business performance indicators.
Assure integrity of the financial system. This includes:
Ensure solid internal controls in place
Prepare appropriate account reconciliations for all relevant accounts.
Work with business units to analyze results and implement corrective action.
Review all accounts payable expenditures and sign checks.
Prepare accrual journal entries to accurately match expenses to revenue.
Reconcile physical inventory quarterly.
Manage audit process with:
Public accountants for annual audit
Workers comp carrier
401k carrier
Prepare Annual Budget with General Manager
Support General Manager to prepare long range strategic plan
Reporting to third parties
Banks holding loans
Other loan institutions
Lease holders
Governmental entities
Manage Finance Department team
Ensure staff of three are motivated, fulfilled, helpful to each other and coworkers and have an open communication culture
Ensure team strives for accuracy and meets deadlines
Make sure key activities are documented and cross-trained
Promote friendly, collaborative team environment
Finance Duties to include:
Prepare a rolling ten week cash forecast and measure daily to assure an adequate flow of cash for payments.and meeting of loan covenants
Assume role of primary interface with banking partners.
Seek efficiencies and be open to new approaches
Maintain cash management routines with all banks and credit card processing
Oversee leasing of six office suites in Southern Village.
Support management with ad hoc reporting or other assistance as needed.
Handle Liability insurance reporting to include.
Prepare annual applications
Provide certificates of insurance as required
Assure we have a competitive insurance portfolio by shopping coverage when appropriate.
Prepare financial analyses as needed.
Education and Certifications:
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA or CPA or equivalent desirable.
Experience and Technical Skills required:
Requires at least 10 years of broad finance and accounting experience. Previous experience with integrated financial system is highly preferred. Knowledge of Windows, Excel and Word is required. General knowledge of hardware and software options and industry developments. Ability to translate business needs to information solutions. Ability to work with all levels of the organization to facilitate communication of issues.
