Essential Functions:

  • Develop partnerships with youth-serving community-based organizations in the highest need communities to engage unserved/ underserved African American / Black youth.
  • Provide case management services to children & youth including crisis intervention, advocacy, emotional support, education and resources as needed.
  • Attend and actively participate in Black Child Legacy Campaign (BCLC) meetings
  • MDT’s CFT’s and other case coordination meetings.
  • Facilitate educational and peer support groups as needed.
  • Provide children & youth with support in achieving their education, employment, financial, housing, and wellbeing goals.
  • Maintain accurate client records and enter data into database in a timely manner.
  • Complete accurate and timely reporting requirements.
  • Communicate with supervisor, as needed, for support and supervision.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with partner and community agencies.
  • Attend all required training and stay knowledgeable about current dynamics and trends of domestic violence and its impact on survivors and their children.

Other Responsibilities/Duties


  • Model appropriate professional behavior and intervention skills
  • Attend mandatory program and staff meetings.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekend days.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Work environment is primarily in an emergency shelter/24-7 facility setting. May need to lift and carry 25 lbs., extend both arms above the head and/or reach below the waist, stoop, squat, crawl, bend the back to retrieve items, climb stairs, or use an elevator. Employee may also need to remain in one position (i.e., sitting or standing) for an extended period of time while completing work tasks. Must be able to efficiently operate a keyboard and mouse or adaptive equivalent, take notes; utilize desk tools such as phones or calculators, and utilize larger office equipment such as printers and copy machines. Communicate clearly and concisely to others. Apply above average reasoning and detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A combination of education and experience to successfully meet job requirements.
  • Experience with domestic violence, sexual assault or human trafficking services preferred
  • Experience working with families and/or children preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent crisis intervention, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Reflective of communities served
  • Regular attendance
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Word
  • Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour classroom peer counselor training (post-hiring requirement) and attend amount of required continuing education to maintain certification
  • Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof vehicle insurance
  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check.
