Essential Functions:

Direct Services:

  • Provide crisis intervention counseling, advocacy, and information and referrals to individuals calling the agency’s 24-hour Support & Information Line and online chat.
  • Ensure clients are being provided with internal referrals to WEAVE Services as well as resources in the community based on each client’s individual needs.
  • Respond to client crisis situations in a trauma-informed, safe, and effective way.
  • Provides conflict resolution as situations between residents arise.
  • Cultivate a welcoming environment by maintaining high visibility and availability throughout the program and initiating contact, engagement, and rapport building with residents.
  • Provide emergency transportation, food, and clothing as needed.
  • Assist clients with supporting their children by modeling positive communication and interactions with children, ensure children are safe, and provide play-care as needed.
  • Maintain accurate client records and data entry in a timely manner.

Facilities:

  • Maintain a professional and courteous manner with all management, staff, clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures and notifies Residential Management of any potential safety risks.
  • Monitor the entrance, security cameras, and the perimeter of the Safehouse Campus throughout the shift.
  • Ensure the residential facility is well maintained by communicating needed repairs to Residential Management.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks such as laundry, stocking and restocking the bathroom, kitchen, and office spaces.
  • Conduct inventory of the cleaning, office, and program supplies as needed.
  • Assist in the organization of donations received on a regular basis.
  • Execute tasks and cleaning projects related to cleaning, relocating items, and sanitizing and organizing spaces at the Safehouse Campus.
  • Assist with preparing rooms for intakes and assembling welcome bags.
  • Assist with workshops and planned activities.
  • Prepare welcome packets, intake folders, and replenish copies on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain the Safehouse Roster, cleaning chores list, and the transportation and hygiene items logs.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and information to agency volunteers, as needed.
  • Attend and participate in agency meetings, staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Complete WEAVE’s classroom training (69 hours) and maintain certification.
  • Maintain close communication with other shelter staff.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with partner agencies and other local organizations and community service providers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely timesheets.
  • Familiar with legal, medical, housing, educational, and social service agencies and resources in the community which may be of use to residents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Combination of education and experience to successfully fulfill position responsibilities.
  • Residential facility operates 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays according to the position’s assigned schedule is required.
  • Residential Services program experience preferred.
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence preferred.
  • Crisis intervention, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to relate in a supportive, non-judgmental manner and maintain a client-centered approach within the parameters of agency policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of the impact of trauma and ability to provide trauma-informed support.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Valid California driver license, reliable transportation, and proof of vehicle insurance.

Work environment is primarily in an emergency shelter/24-7 facility setting. May need to lift and carry 25 lbs., extend both arms above the head and/or reach below the waist, stoop, squat, crawl, bend the back to retrieve items, climb stairs, or use an elevator. Employee may also need to remain in one position (i.e., sitting or standing) for an extended period of time while completing work tasks. Must be able to efficiently operate a keyboard and mouse or adaptive equivalent, take notes; utilize desk tools such as phones or calculators, and utilize larger office equipment such as printers and copy machines. Communicate clearly and concisely to others. Apply above average reasoning and detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties.
