Are you passionate about combating sexual assault and gender-based violence? Are you looking for a way to support survivors of sexual violence in our community? If the answer is yes, WEAVE may be the place for you!
Our Organization: WEAVE, founded in 1978, is Sacramento’s primary provider of services supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. The organization offers 24/7 support and response, an emergency safehouse program, counseling, legal services, and much more to some of the most vulnerable members of Sacramento’s many communities. WEAVE has grown significantly in recent years, expanding services and capacity to meet community needs. With diverse programs and an organizational commitment to excellence, WEAVE is leading the way in service standards.
Our mission is to promote safe and healthy relationships and support survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and sex trafficking. Our vision is a community free of violence and abuse. When Everyone Acts, Violence Ends!
The Role: Under the direct supervision of the Community Response Manager, the Intermittent SART Advocate provides crisis intervention, advocacy, information and referral, and follow-up services to survivors of sexual assault. This position plays a vital part of WEAVE's ability to provide trauma-informed responses on a 24/7 basis to victims and survivors of sexual assault in Sacramento County. Intermittent SART Advocates are dispatched to a medical clinic setting when a survivor is referred for a forensic medical exam following a sexual assault. Advocates offer the survivor accompaniment, emotional support, and resources during and immediately following the exam and are responsible for ensuring that full-time WEAVE staff receive appropriate information to follow up with the survivor after the exam.
Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic individual with prior experience or training in social services and a commitment to providing trauma informed responsive services to survivors. Advocates must be able to provide support and resources in a judgement-free way and must be able to interact positively with survivors from a wide range of backgrounds and communities.
