WEAVE is a nonprofit organization located in Sacramento, CA, dedicated to empowering and supporting victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and sex trafficking. We provide essential services, resources, and advocacy to help survivors on their journey to healing and independence. As we continue to expand our impact, we are seeking a devoted Advocate – Celebrating Families (CF!) who has the ability to engage and build rapport with survivors, CF! participants, and community partners.

The CF! Advocate provides supportive services and culturally responsive advocacy to survivors of domestic violence, including emotional support, safety planning, crisis intervention, and resources. As part of the Federal Administration for Children & Families, Celebrating Families for Survivors of Domestic Violence and their Children grant, the Advocate will facilitate WEAVE’s Celebrating Families parenting groups with survivors and their children., coordinate the successful implementation of WEAVE’s Celebrating Families within WEAVE’s programs and clients, as well as in the community in partnership with Community Based Organizations.

The CF! Advocate will work collaboratively with WEAVE and partner staff trained in WEAVE’s Celebrating Families to communicate effectively and coordinate all aspects of the program including, prepare materials, coordinate schedules and logistics, engage and retain families, implement the program to fidelity, administer evaluation assessments, complete all required data entry, and celebrate successes.

Candidates interested in this position should have the following skillsets:

  • Survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive
  • Adept in facilitating interactive conversations, offering activities, and providing support to survivors and their children.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice, racial equity, and restorative justice.
  • Ability to receive and provide constructive feedback to improve work product and services.
  • Must maintain an open mind and hold space for non-judgmental conversation and healing.
  • Ability to advocate confidently, maintain confidentiality and hold appropriate boundaries
  • organized, dependable, flexible, and able to work both as a team member and independently

Key Responsibilities include:

  • 70% Facilitate, coordinate, and successfully implement WEAVE’s Celebrating Families program.

Including:

  • Engaging and retaining families to participate and successfully complete the 16-week parent/child program including coordinating and engaging community partners to co-facilitate WEAVE’s Celebrating Families.
  • Engage and coordinate with community partners to co-facilitate WEAVE’s Celebrating Families program at different sites in the community with survivors and their children.
  • Maintain accurate client records and enter data into database in a timely manner. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with partner and community agencies.
  • 30% Provide culturally responsive support services to survivors of domestic violence and their children, including crisis intervention, advocacy, emotional support, education, employment and other and resources including internal and external referrals as needed.
    • Support and advocacy services and support will occur outside of CF program during one-on-one sessions.

Other Responsibilities/Functions

  • Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging and champion efforts to advance Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
  • Attending all required training and maintaining knowledge about current dynamics and trends of domestic violence and its impact on survivors and their children.
  • Model appropriate professional behavior and intervention skills
  • Document service provision data in a timely manner, per agency guidelines
  • Travel to various partner sites required
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekend days.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
