Pavement Data Collection Specialist – Training Provided

WDM USA is hiring Pavement Data Collection Specialists to collect high-quality pavement condition data for Departments of Transportation across the United States.

Pavement Data Collection Specialists manage the success of WDM USA’s day-to-day field operations, including setting survey routes, monitoring incoming data, and troubleshooting data collection equipment. Successful candidates are conscientious, detail-oriented, solution seekers with demonstrated leadership skills and interest in building or utilizing their skills in logistics, data management, IT, and electrical systems maintenance, among others.

BecauseWDM USA works in multiple states, Pavement Data Collection Specialists typically work a 4-5 week in-field shift, followed by 1-week home leave. Schedules are set at least one month in advance.

Pavement Data Collection Specialists receive hourly basis with overtime and daily per diems during client work. WDM USA pays for hotel stays in field. Training Provided

WDM USA provides on-site training in Richmond, Virginia to qualified candidates. Candidates are trained over a minimum two-week period and are paid at the standard hourly rate during the training period. Travel and accommodation during training are at the expense of trainees, so local candidates are strongly preferred.

Job Duties

  • Be able to travel extensively throughout the US, working long days (10-12 hours), 6 days a week while on assignment. (Home travel available for extended assignments.)
  • Perform various types of field data collection, using specialized survey equipment and vehicles.
  • Prepare data collection reports in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate ability to meet project goals and deadlines in both routine and non-routine testing environments.
  • Maintain and calibrate specialized survey equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and necessary mechanical repairs on specialized survey equipment and vehicles or facilitate repairs through outside sources when necessary.
  • Keep vehicles and office/operations areas clean and within OSHA requirements.
  • Be detail-oriented and committed to doing a thorough job.
  • Communicate tactfully and effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Work well in teams and when asked to problem-solve without supervision.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be able to perform routine calibrations, pre/post-trip inspections, and basic vehicle maintenance, including some physical tasks involving exerting up to 50 pounds of force
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; training or certification as a mechanical/electrical/IT technician a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Office; additional software and IT skills highly desired

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have a current Class A or Class B license with N-tanker endorsement
  • Provide an up-to-date driving record with NO accidents in the last 3 years and NO DUI/DWIs
  • Geotechnical, pavement, or Civil Engineering field data collection experience
  • Understanding of gas/diesel engine, hydraulic equipment, and/or electrical system repair
  • 3-5 years of related experience, training, or service preferred
