6 months – High likelihood of extension – based on performance. Project manager will provide consistent feedback to contractor.

This position will provide legal support to the team of litigation attorneys and legal analysts responsible for litigation cases and projects and will report to the Senior Manager, OPG Law Legal Operations and Services.

This contractor position requires a highly skilled Legal Analyst who is knowledgeable in litigation casework, is capable of efficient case management and exhibits strong leadership and influencing skills. The ideal candidate is an experienced Legal Analyst who thrives in a challenging and fast-paced environment, is technology proficient, and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should also excel at solving problems and exhibits a high-level of initiative.

*** Resumes with a strong background in litigation will be considered: Strong litigation paralegals are skilled in understanding court procedures and rules, and they often play a critical role in trial preparation, including coordinating witness testimonies and managing trial exhibits. Their comprehensive support and organizational skills significantly contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal team in the courtroom.

• Assist with the management of discovery for a varied and complex litigation docket, including environmental & safety, employment, personal injury, royalty, commercial and property damage disputes.
• Support client employees and contractors in complying with their legal hold responsibilities and understanding the information management lifecycle.
• Support the management of subpoena responses.
• Assist with document reviews and productions.
• Support attorneys and legal analysts with responses to government agencies.
• Collaborate with the internal and external legal team to manage preservation, data collection and production.
• Conduct factual and legal research, including researching liabilities and conducting witness interviews.
• Contribute analysis and support the development of solutions for legal teams.
• Work closely with client business partners, Attorneys, Legal Analysts, eDiscovery Project Managers and Outside Counsel to resolve a variety of issues relating to litigation support.
• Ensure efficient and appropriate application of Law Function litigation tools, processes, policies and compliance for matter management.

• Minimum of ten years of experience as a paralegal.
• Ability to effectively analyze and communicate legal issues and collaborate across broad functional and organizational lines (e.g., business partners, subject matter experts, attorneys and law professionals).
• Strong organizational, analytical, proofreading, editing and research skills.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain-high quality performance with competing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Strong communication (both oral and written), collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Self-starter who is adept at working in a team environment and partnering with management, business partners, in-house counsel, outside counsel and staff.

• Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
• Advanced skillset in Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Forms, OneNote, Sway and Visio).
• Experience working on large dockets or chronic exposure matters in addition to general litigation.
