Description:

The Estimator reports to the Pre-Construction Manager or above and is responsible for managing and developing estimating activities for the company. The Estimator may be responsible for obtaining, estimating, planning, coordinating and supporting work activities related to company projects. The Estimator may also participate in marketing efforts to obtain new clients and projects for the organization. The Estimator shall maintain appropriate relationships with customers, clients, and vendors.

Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, staff, organize, direct and control activities relating to estimating activities performed by WB Moore personnel in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Manage and perform the overall activities relating to estimates performed by WB Moore including coordinating engineering efforts, estimating costs, acquiring material quotes, and obtaining permit cost.
  • Routinely meet with appropriate parties to verify that estimates are being developed in an accurate manner and reflect actual costs. Develop means to track and ensure that estimate system information is accurate and current.
  • Coordinate with client, architect, engineering, and project team to develop design build proposals.
  • Ensure that proper and accurate information is available and being utilized for company estimates.
  • Provide input to develop methods and procedures to ensure consistency in company estimating efforts.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, job planning meetings, job progress meetings and provide estimates for projects as required.
  • Coordinate with project management team handoff meetings, to ensure that proper and accurate documentation is being provided in this turn over the process and communicate this information in a timely manner.
  • Actively engage in the recruitment and development of high-quality employees to ensure a competent and adequate workforce.
  • Capable of managing, leading, and mentoring direct and indirect subordinates.
  • Actively engage and/or assist in the marketing efforts of WB Moore as deemed necessary to further the goals of the company.
  • Maintain relationships with others in the organization so as to provide a positive work climate.
  • Assume other duties as directed by appropriate authorities.
  • Review bid documents.
  • Generate Bill of Materials and communicate to vendors and subcontractors.
  • Perform take off, and enter take off in company-specific estimating software.
  • Generate proposals and communicate with customers and clients. 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Ability to manage and review subcontractors and vendor’s bids, proposals and Bill of Materials.
  • Knowledgeable with construction documents, including the ability to read drawings and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of the construction process.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Programs, and computer knowledge.
  • Experience working with estimating software programs.
  • Knowledge of electrical design and engineering.
  • Ability to provide layout and design of electrical systems and associated cost.
  • Ability to take direction and complete task with minimal supervision.

Preferred Education and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors Degree in a technical field, Business Management, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Seven (7) years operational experience in estimating, with at least four (4) years of estimating large projects, and electrical trade experience.
