Position: Technical Designer

Reports to: Design Lead

Waypoint Sign Company is the premier architectural signage company in the Seattle Metro area. We specialize in full-service wayfinding and electrical signage for large scale residential and commercial buildings. Waypoint's focus on customer service has driven our growth from being a local Seattle company to providing services across the country.

This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to transform design intent into a shop ready drawings. Computer Design skills and awareness of the latest software capabilities are particularly important as well as how to set up production type files intended for Large Format Printers, Electrical Signs, Plotters and Routers.

Requirements for the Design position:

· High school degree plus 4-year College degree with emphasis in Graphic Design, Industrial Design or Architecture – or work equivalent.

· 1 years in the signage industry.

· Proficient in the Complete Adobe Creative Suites; Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign/Acrobat

· Proficient in Microsoft Office programs: MSWord / Excel /Outlook

· Able to read and understand architectural plans.

· Knowledge of sign assembly and subsequent hardware requirements.

General Duties & Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

· Take concept drawings to the next phase creating shop drawings.

· Work with in-house fabrication team to create build guidelines.

· Assist in improving the in-house process for electrical signage.

· Manage creative files and revise documents as needed.

· Keep current with software updates.

· Provide Wayfinding programming as needed.

· Prepare Production Art – print, laser, braille, and CNC.

Daily Duties include the following:

· Create shop drawings for in-house fabrication of exterior/electrical signage.

· Work with in-house fabrication team for build details.

· Prepare Production Art – Router/Plotter/Print Media.

· Coordinate design needs with Project Managers.

· Attending design meetings as needed.
