Role Description

This is a full-time on-site Registered Nurse role located in Goldsboro, NC at UNC Health Wayne. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for performing patient assessments, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications and treatments, providing patient education, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Our Telemetry/Med Surg Nurses qualify for up to a $39,000 Commitment Incentive and up to $10,000 in relocation assistance pending current address

Unit Descriptions

3rd Floor- Telemetry/Progressive care Unit

• Patient population: Cardiac Arrhythmias, CHF, Syncope, Chest Pain rule out, and post cardiac cath & Pacemaker placement
• Intermediate Care/Stepdown Level of Care- Bipap/Cpap, Anti-Arrhythmic drips, & Blood Pressure Management
• Cardiac Monitor Techs on unit for 24/7 surveillance

Schedule:

• Full-time (72 hours per pay period), 12hr shifts ( 7a-730p or 7p-730a)
• Part-time (hours vary), 12 hr shifts ( 7a-730p or 7p-730a)
• PRN (hours vary, minimum two 12 hour shifts in 6 week schedule period), shift hours- 4, 8, or 12 hours.
• Weekend requirements of every third weekend
• Holiday requirements of half of recognized holidays (Unit Staffing Guidelines include non-recognized holiday obligations).

Orientation

• New Graduate or less than one year experience-Customized to individual need- 12-13 weeks with preceptor.
• 1 years of experience in Telemetry or Progressive care unit- 6 weeks orientation with preceptor unless determined requiring more or less by leadership/educator.

6th Floor - Neuro/Med Surg

• 6 Main is a 48-bed medical surgical department that focuses on the care of adult patients with a variety of medical and surgical diagnosis. Common diagnosis into this department includes diabetes, stroke, kidney failure, respiratory distress, sepsis, liver disease, and other medical issues.
• Our nursing team frequently manages IV’s and access devices, NG tubes, various drains, urinary catheters, and wound vacs. Nurse to patient ratio’s are 1:5/6 and nursing assistant ratio’s are 1:8/10. Our med surge department welcomes new graduate RN’s and LPN’s. Training and orientation is developed by our unit educator and is customized to the individuals experience and educator.

The Team

• Our care team is composed of RN’s, LPN's, nursing assistants, respiratory therapist, physical therapist, and many providers to meet the complex needs of our patients.

7th Floor- Cardiopulmonary Unit

• Patient population: Low Risk Cardiac, CHF, Syncope, Chest Pain rule out, post cardiac cath (low risk), pneumonia, COPD, & viral respiratory illness.
• Cardiac Monitor Techs onsite for 24/7 cardiac monitoring surveillance.

• Part-time (hours vary), 12 hr shifts ( 7a-730p or 7p-730a)

Qualifications

• Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Active and unrestricted North Carolina RN license
• CPR and BLS certification
• ACLS, PALS, and/or TNCC certification (preferred)
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Nursing
• Experience in acute care or an acute care setting (preferred)
• Experience in Telemetry/Progressive Care setting (preferred)
