Responsibilities:
Maintain client confidentiality, treat all clients and colleagues with respect
Understand and appropriately interpret Township Assistance codes for assistance approval and denial
Analyze State law and Township Assistance guidelines to make the best possible decisions, in service of the best possible outcome for each client
Complete and assist clients with completion of their assistance application for assistance
Conduct thorough interviews with clients, gather all necessary information
Record notes from the conversation with the client, and other data relevant to the case in the client case file
Schedule home visit if necessary
Determine level and type of assistance necessary, and for which the client is eligible
Review necessary details related to potential assistance, including those related to a landlord, social security eligibility, utilities, employment, among others
Seek out and facilitate supporting agencies and programs that may be available to help the client
Issue vouchers and payments appropriately and in a timely manner
Prepare and explain the TA-1A letter, obtain necessary signatures
Assist with funeral, burial and/or cremation if necessary
Answer questions and provide information via telephone
Support Township Assistance colleagues
If a notary, notarize documents as requested within guidelines
Properly update and maintain case files
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
High School graduate or equivalent
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Understanding of the laws governing Wayne Township Assistance, and the ability to interpret
them
Skilled in the use of a personal computer and the Microsoft suite of software programs; experience with database utilization
Functions:
This position requires long periods of sitting and standing
A high degree of interpersonal interaction, speaking with individuals and groups is
required, including with some who may be stressed and/or agitated
Employees may be required to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
Dexterity, use of a computer keyboard is required
Ability to perform basic math calculations, and make decisions based on laws and
policies, and the ability to interpret those laws and policies
Must have the ability to prioritize a workload, meet deadlines, adjust based on demands,
and organize a number of projects, and work through a number of process toward
project completion
Must be able to adapt to revisions in procedure and work assignment
Ability to maintain confidentiality, use discretion with personal and private information
Must be able to make decisions, with information available, in stressful situations, must be able to maintain composure in stressful situations
Summary: The Township Services Case Manager is responsible for working with Township citizens with available financial assistance to the extent allowed under legal and policy limits. In all instances, the Township Services Case Manager will support and uphold Federal and State law, procedures, and vision. The incumbent works with people in the department, throughout government, and those who reside in Wayne Township, with diplomacy, tact and patience.
