The Departmentof Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Wayne StateUniversity in Detroit, Michigan (www.clas.wayne.edu/languages/)invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or AssociateProfessor in Black Francophone Studies to begin August 16, 2024. Ph.D. in French/Francophonestudies required by date of appointment. Salary commensurate withqualifications and experience.
Applicants must have university-level teachingexperience and native or near-native fluency in French and English. Thesuccessful candidate will teach all levels of French and Francophone language,literature, and culture, create courses in Black Francophone Studies in Frenchand English, and have a developing or established scholarly research program inFrancophone African Studies.
We welcome candidates who have an interest in anyarea of African Studies, including Colonial/Postcolonial Studies, Global/TransnationalStudies, Film/Media Studies, Environmental Studies, etc. The candidate would beexpected to teach 2 courses per semester, mentor undergraduate, MA, and PhDstudents, and demonstrate promise in their field of research.
Ph.D. in Francophone Studies or related field, with abilityto develop courses in both French and English in Black Francophone Studies intraditional, hybrid, and online formats.
