WPS is a high-achieving west-suburban district of 2,800 students, with one preschool, three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Position Description:

We are currently seeking an innovative and passionate science teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching five sections in 6th grade. Additionally, the role includes leading a homeroom and a TAG (advisory) group, participating in weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) and cluster meetings, and contributing to monthly department meetings all during school hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach 5 science sections of physical science (physics and chemistry)
  • Co-lead a daily homeroom and a weekly TAG (advisory) group.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in weekly PLC and cluster meetings.
  • Participate in monthly department meetings.
  • Build strong connections with families and foster a sense of community in the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification/license in Massachusetts (Math/Science or Science 5-8)
  • Experience teaching at the middle school level is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dedication to building relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Spanish bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, as a dual-immersion program is in development at the middle school level.
