Description

This position performs various functions as a transportation service center specialist including responding to incoming calls, transportation management system support, taking orders, updating customer and other information, and ensuring optimal resolution of customer inquiries. Requires expertise in various transportation modes, including LTL and truckload. Specialist is a front-line representative to external and internal customers of 1st Priority Services and must consistently demonstrate our commitment to providing the highest level of service and value.

LTL Specialist Job Duties

• Leverage knowledge of rates, LTL service, OS&D, claims, reweighs, carrier service levels, and regions for less than truckload services, etc. to optimize client shipments
• Responsible for all incoming calls, taking orders, updating information, and ensuring the resolution of customer issues in transportation management systems
• Troubleshoot shipment failures and find alternative solutions, engage the customer and provide timely updates.
• Set pickup and delivery appointments.
• Enter loads and appointments in the TMS.
• Coordinate communication among all departments.
• Build effective relationships with internal and external customers.
• Responsible for daily communication between internal and external customers.
• May serve as an internal resource for the development and documentation of standard operating procedures.
• Must be able to clearly articulate business needs to both internal and external customers and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in discipline related to functional work or role with up to 3 years transportation or distribution industry required OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.
• Minium of 2 years in logistics 
• Experience working in a deadline-driven environment 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
