Description

Wave Life Sciences seeks a highly motivated communications expert with a scientific background to join a growing genetic medicines company with multiple preclinical and clinical programs and a novel discovery and drug development platform. In addition to basic responsibilities to support external communications, this opening provides an opportunity for the right candidate to help shape the future of the Medical Communications organization at Wave.

Reporting to the Head of Medical Communications, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing scientific content to support communication and publication strategies across platform and discovery-stage programs at Wave. Our discovery scientists are challenging assumptions about the chemistries that can impact the pharmacology and biology of oligonucleotides and potential therapeutics. They are also advancing capabilities to support novel modalities, such as RNA base editing, and have produced a first-in-class RNA editing candidate and the most advanced program currently in development using an oligonucleotide to harness an endogenous enzyme for editing.

The Manager/Senior Manager, Scientific Communications will help to advance science by partnering with our scientists to support communication and publication strategies across Wave’s innovative discovery and pipeline programs.

Experience

  • Advanced degree required, doctorate level (PharmD, M.D., or Ph.D.) preferred 
  • Background in chemistry, chemical biology, or biochemistry, with demonstrable knowledge of nucleic acid chemistry
  • Basic understanding of drug discovery and development
  • Experience writing and publishing clear, concise and highly readable articles in English in peer-reviewed scientific journals

Responsibilities

  • Draft and/or manage development of publications (abstracts, posters, slide presentations, and journal articles) to meet scientific communication goals in alignment with the overall objectives for Wave’s platform and discovery stage programs
  • Provide oversight of work performed by external communications agencies, contract writers and/or artists to develop materials that meet communication goals
  • Coordinate and lead/participate in meetings with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely completion of projects
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, and Patient Advocacy to support external communications across audiences on key milestones and data
  • Develop, maintain, and disseminate key informational documents to support Wave’s platform and discovery-stage programs (eg, communication platforms, Frequently Asked Questions, and congress reports)
