Wausau Window and Wall Systems is Hiring a Production Supervisor - 1st Shift Near Wausau, WI

Wausau Window and Wall Systems POSITION SUMMARY Lead, facilitate, train and mentor team members in all aspects of line/cell structure, particularly in the areas of safety, quality, production and Lean Process Flow. Delegate duties to Lead associates to help accomplish these duties. POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times. Proactively alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. Deploy and monitor staffing to execute production schedule. Confer with department Supervisors to determine status of assigned projects. Provide schedule updates, monitor and update ERP schedules as required. Lead and improve safety and housekeeping initiatives including monthly department safety meetings. Adhere to established Safety policies and procedures and train people to ensure a safe environment for all associates. Lead and facilitate shift communication on a daily basis. Perform in and nurture a team-based environment, initiate group interaction, resolve conflict and build consensus. Provide support to team during scheduled production hours. Execute department team meetings. Lead, facilitate, train and mentor team members in all aspects of line structure, particularly in the areas of safety, quality, production and Lean Process Flow. Monitor and maintain product and process quality compliance. Identify and work to resolve issues impacting safety, quality, up time and process flow. Develop and implement cross-training. Identify, develop and implement continuous improvement to improve safety, quality, productivity and process flow through effective resource management of people, materials and equipment. Process documentation and validation. Estimate, requisition and inspect materials and manage consumable inventories as needed. Maintain labor and inventory compliance. Active leadership and support of Operational Excellence, Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement process. Undertake job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company's Core Values. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in related field desired; minimum of one to three years related leadership experience in a manufacturing setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience desired. SKILL and KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS Ability to communicate effectively in a verbal and a written manner. Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodology. Close attention to detail and ability to prioritize is critical. Ability to effectively interact with a diverse team of people. Proficiencies in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ERP software. Strong proficiencies in internal software: CTO-Pro View, BOM , ERP/Epicor, Manufacturing Data Package, and other supporting documents. Familiarity with Wausau Window and Wall Systems' products and processes. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervise 10-30 employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including exhibiting core value behavior. Responsibilities include hiring and training employees; assigning work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the production floor the noise level may be loud. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Supervisor is involved with quality assessments, assisting production as required, office work, visual shop management, safety assessment, plant leadership meetings.
