Description

The Waupun Area School District is seeking a 5th Grade Elementary Teacher for the 2023-24 school year. This position will entail instructing Math, Science, and Social Studies Curriculum in a morning and afternoon block. This position will also include instructing two sections of literacy or math based supportive instruction and collaborating with colleagues in a PLC environment. There will be opportunities to join school based teams, such as PBIS Tier 1 or 2, Guiding Coalition, or other advisory positions.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:DPI License – Regular Education 1777This position will work with their grade level team as a professional learning community in order to maximize the potential of each student by:1. Utilizing current research-based best practices that model the skills and practices of lifelong learning.2. Effectively engaging students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies to meet individual learning needs.3. Systematically gathering, analyzing, and using relevant data to measure student progress, guide instructional content/delivery methods, and providing timely feedback to students.4. Providing a respectful, safe, positive, and student-centered environment that is conducive to student engagement and learning.5. Reflecting upon one’s practice in order to continually evaluate the effects of one’s teaching choices and actions on students, parents, and others in the professional learning community and to grow professionally.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESThis position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or skills associated with this position, but is intended to accurately reflect the essential job elements.The Teacher:A. Engages in consistent learning aligned to district initiatives. Actively seeks professional learning opportunities.B. Plans specifically for the use of reciprocal teaching strategies: Identifying similarities & differences, summarizing & note-taking, reinforcing effort & providing recognition, homework & practice, non-linguistic representations, cooperative learning, setting objectives & providing feedback, generating & testing hypotheses, questions/cues/advanced organizers.C. Emphasizes student use of meta-cognitive strategies. Supports, contributes, and incorporates a balance of instructional strategies (such as gradual release of responsibility method, differentiation, inquiry-based learning, multiple levels of questioning, etc.).D. Demonstrates commitment to improving the school as a whole by actively engaging in the achievement of the school’s mission and goals by influencing strategic planning and implementing initiatives at both the PLC and building level. Engages with and actively contributes to team level continuous improvement process.E. Uses formative assessment on a continuous basis to drive instruction. Maintains high expectations for student growth and provides regular feedback to students regarding their progress in order to build confidence and encourage risk-taking. Involves students in individual goal setting & progress monitoring of their performance data.F. Uses technology to integrate strategies to promote 21st Century skills into the instruction for all students.G. Uses discretion and exercises confidentiality when discussing school matters.H. Displays a disposition and attitude that promotes a positive school and classroom environment and fosters students’ belief in themselves. Positive behavior expectations are used to reinforce an environment conducive to learning. Develops effective parent relationships.I. Follows District and building policies and procedures.J.
