The Commercial Sales & Operations Director is a leadership role within the Commercial & Multi Unit channel of Waterworks. This new position will collaborate with the VP of Commercial and will be a change agent and thought partner, elevating the current business model and standard operating procedures to achieve and exceed revenue targets and position the channel for growth.
Overall responsibility includes reviewing, analyzing, creating, implementing and maintaining the sales and operational processes for the organization in order to simplify and elevate the sales experience for clients.
Short term focus (3-6 months) will be to develop and understanding of the channel's business model and how the team works, get to know the key cross functional partners, current processes and challenge areas in order to clearly define goals and develop a strategic plan to re-engineer, streamline, and scale for growth. Integrate any new process with new company wide ERP implementation in progress.
Long term goals (6 months and beyond) this role will travel domestically and may travel internationally working with the territory Commercial Market Managers to understand the sales and service cycle through an operations and process improvement lens.
Partnering with the VP of Sales, this role will be instrumental in creating the business model and process for international growth.
Other responsibilities include owning the reporting, budgets, and marketing for the channel.
The right candidate will combine their entrepreneurial spirit and passion for maximizing processes within a luxury design sales environment that provides the Commercial channel and team the tools they need to build a successful business.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Working closely with the VP of Commercial Sales, develops a deep understand of the channel's business model, growth strategy, and current processes.
  • Analyze, review and document current operations processes (full sales lifecycle; order to cash through distribution; through after sales) and recurring challenges for the channel.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to re-engineer processes in order to create efficiencies and scale for growth.
  • Integrating all strategies with new company-wide ERP system.
  • Develop and manage the channel's marketing roadmap to include participating in industry events, trade shows, CEUs, etc.
  • Establishes all reporting, metrics, and dashboards for channel aligned with company LRP alongside Finance team.
  • Participate in weekly sales and services meetings.
  • Prepare decks and participate in channel business review(s)
  • Manage channel's budget, AOP in partnership with VP of Commercial Sales and Finance team.
  • Plan and execute yearly sales meeting.
  • Work with Commercial Market Managers to understand regional business and clients through the lens of operational improvements.
  • Participate in and accelerate the sales cycle for assigned territories/projects.
  • Partners with internal contracts team to ensure complete library of contracts is updated and available at all times.
  • Ensures appropriate processes and protocol for client issue escalations are in place and being implemented.
  • May act as sales escalation point for serious client issues, working with sales team and services to satisfy client issues within company guidelines.
  • Manages inventory by with Distribution Center to ensure accuracy.
  • Develops strong relationships with other functional areas and channels.
  • Responds in a timely manner to all internal communication.
  • Other accountabilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 7 years inside/outside sales experience within high end luxury brand environment; Commercial, hospitality, multi-unit experience is a plus
  • Self-motivated team leader with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Nimble and able to be flexible and adjust to changing needs/direction
  • Entrepreneurial, adaptable to meet high demands of the role
  • Must be able to influence with and without direct authority across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to take charge, drive for results and make sound decisions quickly
  • Innovative and strategic thinking with the ability to transform business processes
  • Ability to inspire trust, integrity and professionalism
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications including advanced excel skills and working knowledge of CRM systems
  • Plumbing/tile/Construction background/exposure a plus
  • This role requires travel, both domestic and international; up to 50%
