OverviewThe Literacy Coach ensures all students K-5 receive high-quality literacy instruction. The Literacy Coach leads the development and improvement of teaching and learning in our school via professional development, planning, data analysis, consultation/collaboration with teachers and administrators, and more. The Literacy Coach serves as the literacy content expert and provides support on curriculum, high-quality interventions, and the science of teaching reading.

The Literacy Coach serves as the literacy content expert and provides support on curriculum, high-quality interventions, and the science of teaching reading.
Key Responsibilities
- Knowledge of and ability to apply effective methods for planning, implementing, and analyzing standards-based literacy instruction based on the science of reading and evidence-based practices.
- Lead school-based professional development for teachers
- Serving as a non-evaluative literacy coach to teachers, conducting regular coaching cycles, and supporting common planning
- Analyze data, facilitate data meetings, and support teachers in adjusting instruction based on data
- Support Tier 1 and Tier 2 lesson preparation using high-quality curriculum
- Knowledge of and ability to apply principles and practices that foster an inclusive and collaborative school culture
- Work closely with the Reading Specialist team in coordinating intervention cycles and maintaining best practices in Tir 2 and 3 instruction
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with teachers and administrators to set high academic and instructional expectations for all learners
- Thorough knowledge of the ELA Frameworks
- Familiarity and confidence with best practices in literacy instruction
- Upholds the belief that all children can learn and will be successful in literacy
- A current Massachusetts Teaching License/Certification
- At least five or more successful years of experience teaching: elementary classroom literacy and/or Teacher of Reading
- Owns a passion for literacy teaching and learning
