Position Summary

The role of the RN Scribe reports to the cardiovascular provider team and clinic leadership. This position is responsible for working under the direction and supervision of cardiovascular providers while recording patient medical notes verbatim, placing orders, documenting vital signs, reviewing lab and diagnostic imaging results, documenting medication compliance, and performing nurse-based tasks like nursing assessments. This position will assist in streamlining patient care, improve provider efficiency, reduce patient length of stay, and help meet budgetary goals.

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • The main responsibility for the Nurse Scribe will be to document (verbatim) cardiology providers notes, patient history, review of systems, assessments, diagnosis, orders, and plan of care.
  • Initiate progress notes (under direct supervision) to include recent lab results, vital signs, diagnostic imaging results, intake and output, and medication compliance.
  • Work with the cardiology provider team to ensure superior documentation and care for our patients.
  • Responsible for communicating with patients and providers to enhance patient care experience.
  • All documentation and orders will be made working in direct supervision of cardiology provider.

Qualifications

  • Education:Completion of an accredited nursing program
  • Licensure and Certifications: Registered Nurse License
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of cardiology experience either in the hospital setting or clinic. Strong computer skills and familiarity with Cerner or other EMR experience required. Ability to effectively communicate with providers, hospital staff, patients, and families, as appropriate.
