OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Greet patients creating a positive and friendly environment for patients and guests.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greet patients as they arrive
Check in patients utilizing referral knowledge when necessary
Disperse required forms to each patient
Schedule follow ups and any appointments requested by the Doctor
Data Entry of demographics and insurance information
Scanning received documents into Greenway
Research and route phone calls to appropriate locations
Schedule appointments over the phone
Responsible for daily deposit at the end of each day
Re-stock forms when low
Closing procedures: Tidy reception area, coffee, recycle bins, etc.
Assist with other office duties as needed:
Scanning for Medical Records
Fill in for Patient Services/referrals
Calling on referrals received
Obtain authorizations for surgeries and special studies
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public
Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type patient information
Skill in operating a computer, fax, and copy machine
Ability to speak clearly and concisely
Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions
Skill in answering the telephone in a pleasant, helpful and professional manner
Knowledge of insurances, referrals and authorizations
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SPECIAL TRAINING:
High school diploma or GED
Type 40 wpm
EXPERIENCE:
Two year work experience in a medical office setting
Knowledge of medical terminology
Word processing and computer skill
EQUIPMENT USED:
IBM compatible computer
Electronic Health Records
Fax/copier
Multi-line phone
Note: Position requires frequent standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time. Requires some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity necessary for the operation of the basic office equipment such as computer, fax, copier and telephone. Requires use of telephone. Requires hearing in normal acuity range and eyesight correctable to 20/20. Requires ability to work quickly and accurately, and in high stress situations with patients who may be confused, nervous and/or irritated.
