Washington Elementary School District No. 6 is Hiring a Special Area Coach - Music (.5 FTE) Near Glendale, AZ

Pay Grade: Grade E (Exempt Professional Salary Schedule)

Department: Academic Services

Accountable To: Director of Curriculum & Instruction

FLSA Status: Exempt

Creation/Revision Date: April 16, 2024

Summary:

Under general direction, incumbent(s) provides training and support around music instruction, and also provides specific leadership in the area of music curriculum and instruction.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and deliver professional development for teachers, instructional coaches and administrators around effective Applied Music and Instrumental Music instruction.
  • Coaches, models, and co-plans with teachers to support effective Applied Music Education and Instrumental Music instruction.
  • Provide leadership with the Applied Music and Instrumental Music Leadership Team.
  • Assist in the Applied Music and Instrumental Music curriculum development.
  • Provide coaching to Applied Music and Instrumental Music teachers in areas such as curriculum, instruction, technology integration, inquiry learning, lesson planning, assessment, etc.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education;
  • Five years of social studies teaching experience;
  • Demonstrated experience with effective technology integration
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education Teacher Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience coaching and/or delivering professional development at the district level

  • Knowledge of pedagogical methods and learning styles.
  • Ability to develop highly effective and innovative solutions to pedagogical and research issues.
  • Ability to produce and deliver high quality media components for online learning.
  • Proficient skills in customer service and satisfaction
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work accurately with attention to detail.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, think outside the box.
