Washington-Caldwell School District is seeking enthusiastic and engaging teacher candidates to apply for our Middle School Math Position. Our ideal candidate will have a strong desire to work with middle-level learners, have a passion for teaching math, and have the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Washington-Caldwell is a 4K-8th grade school with dedicated staff who are committed to the growth and development of our students as learners and good citizens.

Specific skills needed:

  • Knowledge of Wisconsin Content Standards for Mathematics
  • Knowledge and ability to teach eighth-grade Algebra.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written, verbal, and technology-based communication skills.

The Successful Candidate will:

  • Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage mathematical learning experiences.
  • Provide instruction, support, and supervision to middle school students (grades 6th – 8th).
  • Create effective and engaging lessons to teach core content and build skills.
  • Possess the ability to adjust instructional strategies to address students' needs.
  • Exhibit strong classroom management skills.
  • Ability to partner with our Student Service and Support Staff to collaborate on supporting students in an inclusive setting.
  • Use assessment to drive instruction and provide effective and timely feedback on learning.
  • Make use of instructional resources and technologies and proactively contribute to the development of the school and assigned class to improve the educational quality of its students.
  • Maintain contact and communication with parents of students and work with them in the development of each student.
  • Model appropriate interpersonal and communication skills in interactions with students and co-workers.
  • Excitement to continually grow and develop the K-12 Mathematics curriculum.
  • Have the lens of student-first decision making.
  • Use positive behavior techniques as part of a school-wide PBIS focus

The Middle School Math Teacher will teach all math courses for 6th-8th graders as well as a Reading or STEM class as needed. The individual also needs to be able to teach a high school level course such as Algebra. The teacher will be asked to coordinate and teach math interventions with middle school students, in collaboration with our intervention team. Finding ways to challenge our highest achieving students with competitions and activities is also important.

A Wisconsin Mathematics (1400) License is desirable, however we will also consider individuals with 1088/1083 Elementary/Middle Level Education or 1777 Regular Education Licensure that have the ability to teach high school Algebra. The District will work with the right candidates who possess out of state licenses, or licenses in other curricular areas, to become properly licensed.

Washington Caldwell is located in extreme Western Racine County. We proudly educate 200 students in grades 4K-8th grade. Our students attend Waterford Union High School after 8th grade. We are a 1:1 district, with iPads in grades 4K-2 and Chromebooks in grades 3-8.
