Washington Area Clinical Center is Hiring a Medical Billing Assistant at Counseling Office Near Bowie, MD

About Us:
We are a leading mental health office in Bowie, MD, dedicated to providing compassionate care and support to our patients. We are currently seeking an experienced and personable Medical Billing Assistant to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-person billing assistance at our mental health office.
  • Schedule appointments, fax documents, and handle incoming calls from patients.
  • Respond promptly to patient inquiries and concerns, ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Request and manage medical records as needed.
  • Process payments, handle insurance claims, and checking CPT codes.
  • Address claim denials and rejections in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • 1 year(s) of front desk appointment scheduling experience at a mental health counseling/therapy clinic (bonus points for mental health clinic experience).
  • Previous billing experience in a medical office setting.
  • Proficiency with Gmail and experience sorting data in Excel/Google Sheets spreadsheets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and professional emails.
  • Energetic, friendly, empathetic, attentive, computer-savvy, and highly organized.

The candidate must be a quick learner and able to perform most functions with personal initiative. This is an IN-PERSON part-time position, not a remote job.

Must also be knowledgeable about HIPAA regulations.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week

  • Are you able to multitask with office phones?
  • Are you comfortable with working late afternoons and evenings? Some shifts will start later in the day (12pm ) and end at 8pm.
  • Are you Tech-Savvy?
  • Do you have experience with billing tasks (authorizations, EOBs, claims, etc) ? Candidates with this experience will be highly considered.
  • This is a temporary position (20-30 hours). There is opportunity for growth after 90 days. Is this feasible for you?
