WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A PAYROLL ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

As a Payroll Accounting Specialist you will play a crucial role in the financial operations of the organization. Your responsibilities will include processing payroll records, reviewing employee time sheets for accuracy, and calculating employee earnings and withholdings. You will maintain computerized payroll records, resolve payroll issues, and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Additionally, you will transmit payroll and accounts payable batches electronically, reconcile payroll deductions with various agencies, and prepare annual reports for tax purposes. To excel as a Payroll Accounting Specialist candidates should possess a high school diploma along with specialized training in general office practices, PC operation, and various software applications. Alternatively, four years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. Key skills required include a solid understanding of customer relations, accounting laws and regulations, payroll processing, and general office procedures. Proficiency in filing systems, record-keeping, letter writing, grammar, and punctuation is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate expertise in using word processing software, standard office equipment, basic mathematics, and general accounting principles.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• Graduation from high school plus two (2) years of specialized training in general office practices and procedures
• PC operation and various software applications;
• Four (4) years of responsible experience related to above duties;
• An equivalent combination of education and experience
• Considerable knowledge of customer relations methods and practices; laws and regulations governing accounting responsibility and payroll processing; general office maintenance and practices; filing systems (alpha and numeric)
• Recording and filing procedures and methodologies; letter composition
• Effective interpersonal communication, telephone etiquette, and public relations skills are crucial for success in this role at our innovative and customer-centric organization.
