Warbird Consulting Partners LLC is Hiring a VP, Finance (Healthcare) Near Columbus, OH

Warbird Consulting Partners has partnered with a regional, not-for-profit health system to identify a VP of Finance for its Medical Group (approximately 700 providers). The organizations estimated NPR is $750M.
POSITION SUMMARY
The VP of Finance - Medical Group will work with the System CFO to develop strategic financial goals, financial management strategy, financial policies and procedures and the related internal controls. This position is responsible for presenting the results of operations to the Board and the Finance Committee. Additionally, this person will oversee the Physician Compensation Committee, designing the physician compensation and professional coding function, supporting operational financial management through performance benchmarking, financial planning and financial decision making.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate completion of financial statements to include the associated service line results of operations and statistical schedules. All significant volume and income statement variances have been addressed prior to presentation to leadership, physicians and other interested parties.
  • Meets regularly with service line leaders, physicians and other interested parties to discuss opportunities for performance improvement. This includes review of performance with those physicians who are under guaranteed relationships.
  • Constructs the annual budget to include volume, revenue, and expense assumptions.
  • Ensures a complete understanding of the professional revenue cycle and collaborates closely with the systems outsourced partner to ensure that the entire revenue cycle (front-mid-back) is clearly understood. Has a thorough understanding of the authorization, POS, documentation, coding billing and follow-up processes. Ensures that timely education is provided to physicians and clinicians for effective use of the EHR system, documentation and coding.
  • Develops and in collaboration with the System CFO and leadership team the compensation strategy for physicians and other service providers (APPs, PA's, NPs).
  • In collaboration with the leadership, analyzes and develops economic scenarios pertaining to the recruitment of physicians and other professionals. Upon completion of a recruitment, assist in the onboarding process of the professional and periodic follow-up meetings to ensure that volume and economic objectives are being satisfied.
  • Assure the financial integrity of the organization by developing, implementing and continually maintaining an appropriate system of internal controls to safeguard assets, assess corporate financial performance against monthly and annual targets, and assure corporate compliance and professional integrity of the finance function.
  • Develops a network of other financial executives to keep up to date with Medical Group operations and economics.
  • Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills. Communicates with all parties on a timely basis.
  • Collaborates with the Vice President of Revenue Cycle, Vice President of Payor Integration, and VP of System Finance to ensure that the organization is optimizing financial performance.
  • Performs all other duties as directed by the System CFO.
REQUIREMENTS
  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance required. MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years experience in a physician practice financial management role, ideally in an integrated healthcare delivery system.
  • Experience managing professional coding and the relationship of coding to physician compensation and billing compliance.
