Job Description

The Walton Investment Team (“WIT”) is seeking a Principal to support the execution of asset-based renewable energy and real estate investments.

About the Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the execution and due diligence of investments, overseeing financial modeling, and monitoring of investments across a range of asset classes, sizes and structures including , private equity, joint ventures and direct acquisitions. Walton Investment Team is a dynamic and growing team that specializes in managing family investments. Our talented team is located across Denver, CO, Washington, DC and Bentonville, AR. We work cohesively as a team to evaluate and execute investment opportunities for our clients. We are seeking to expand and grow our team with skillful and qualified talent.

What you will do

Responsibilities

  • Take leadership in the assessment of private investment opportunities, including leading due diligence, negotiations, and structuring
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of investment opportunities, including company/project analysis, market and competitive analysis, analysis of investment merits and considerations, impact metrics (DEI/ESG), management benchmarking, evaluation of company and investment structure, and returns analysis
  • Research and develop new investment theses and strategies through analysis of industry dynamics, trends, and key investable opportunities
  • Present investment recommendations and strategies effectively, both in verbal and written form
  • Oversee and evaluate Excel models to evaluate financial returns on investment opportunities
  • Analyze third-party analyses—external consultants, tax, legal etc.—and Executive Principal approvals required to execute investments
  • Provide ongoing asset management, monitoring and oversight of existing investments (including Board and LPAC representation), including analyzing financial figures received, responding to follow-on capital raises and other corporate actions, and exiting investments
  • Mentor and motivate other team members that can benefit from such insights and encouragement
  • Perform other duties as required and necessary to accomplish goals and objectives

For Whom we are looking

Qualifications required for your success

  • Bachelors’ degree in finance, accounting, real estate, or related field
  • 5-7 years of work experience in private investments, ideally in asset-based renewable energy, workforce and affordable housing, or real estate
  • Advanced technical skills, including knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • An MBA is preferred but not essential
  • Experience in financial modeling for real estate and/or real assets investments
  • Experience engaging with company founders, Boards of Directors and co-investors.

Benefits Information*

Compensation Range: $242,000 - $290,000

Benefits Information: We offer a comprehensive and generous benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401 (k) retirement plan, and paid time off.
