Walt Churchill's Market is hiring a Full-Time Bakery Manager for our Perrysburg, OH location.

Job Summary:

The Bakery Manager reports to the Store Manager and is responsible for the overall success of the Bakery including the baking, decorating, sales, and merchandising operations. The Bakery Manager will motivate and manage the Bakery staff, clearly communicate objectives to ensure quality products are being produced, uphold health and safety standards, verify customer orders are fulfilled, and ensure product shelf life is accurate to generate sales. 

Schedule:

The Bakery Manager typically works five days a week and should be available between the hours of 6am and 7pm. Hours may increase and shift times may vary based on Bakery needs. Ability to work weekends and holidays is required.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

* Cost, quality, and production control and timing of both scratch-made and pre-made bakery products

* Strategic in merchandising and tracking sales to meet customer demand and increase profits

* Work closely with the Head Baker on tasks such as product quality, production numbers and costs, managing/communicating customer orders, ordering product, tracking shrink, and optimizing products in the freezer

* Customer service management, handling customer issues, and using problem-solving skills to ensure all customers have an excellent experience

* Manage product inventory, shrink, and packaging

* Adhere to assigned and approved product selections

* Review and assist in preparation of daily orders to assigned bakers and stores, understanding that the Perrysburg Bakery Department helps to supply product to our Maumee location

* Decide and plan the weekly promotions in the Bakery with the Vice President of Sales

* Create schedules for all Bakery employees, not exceeding the maximum sales per labor hour

* Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards mandated by government regulations

* Responsible for maintaining all Bakery equipment and ensuring equipment is cleaned as needed

* Monitoring Bakery staff progress by providing regular feedback regarding their performance and areas of improvement and by completing employee performance evaluations

* Effectively training and educating new Bakery employees to be successful in their position and as a team member

* Participate in meetings with vendors and department managers

* Attend trade shows, including overnight travel

* Maintain timely email, phone, and in-person communication with vendors, customers, and co-workers

* Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked department and ensure proper rotation of all department products

* Review weekly invoices

* Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Skills/Experience:

* Management experience in a retail setting

* Bakery experience and general knowledge

* Good multitasking, organizational, communication and customer service skills

* Baking and decorating experience is preferred

Education/Credentials:

* High school diploma/GED

* Food Safety certification or willing to obtain one

* Baking/Pastry or Culinary degree or certification, preferred

Physical Requirements:

* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently

* Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
