Walker Sims Oil Co., Inc. dba Swift Stop is Hiring an Assistant Manager Near Seminole, TX

Walker Sims Oil Co., Inc., dba Swift Stop is seeking a high-quality individual to serve as assistant manager of its store in Seminole, TX. The Assistant Manager will report directly to the store General Manager and will be responsible for assisting the General Manager with managing all aspects of the Swift Stop store’s operations, including fuel, grocery, beverage, prepared food, and other profit areas. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for helping the General Manager maintain and protect the store’s assets, maintain company-mandated levels of cleanliness and customer service, and produce expected sales and revenue generation. The position is hourly and non-exempt, with work hours dictated by the responsibilities inherent to the job. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

ASSISTANT MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES

Store Administration

  • Identify challenges and provide solutions to those challenges
  • When filling in for General Manager, accurately handles company and customer funds
  • When filling in for General Manager, accurately prepare daily reports, reconcile cash drawers, and ensure compliance with cash management procedures
  • When filling in for General Manager, prepare and submit daily deposits
  • Assist with store audits, inventory, and shrinkage
  • Participate and give direction on the stocking of merchandise
  • Receive shipments, unpack merchandise, sort products; process and return merchandise when the need arises
  • Maximize capacity of sales fixtures, models, and visual presentations
  • Assist General Manager with ensuring that all store equipment is in good working order, and request repairs from equipment vendors and store management as needed
  • Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards
  • Maintain all aspects of facility to adhere to P66 Excellence in Action program
  • Serve as the connection between store management and staff
  • Understand work procedures required of each employee in each department to fill in for absentee staff when required Additional duties as directed

Personnel

  • Assist General Manager with store operations through effective management and direction of employees, with prompt follow-up to ensure expected results are accomplished
  • Serve as an example of behavior and high performance to store employees
  • Plan, monitor, and appraise employee job results, including coaching, counseling and disciplining of employees as necessary
  • Report employee illnesses and vacation requests to management in a timely manner
  • Ensure that employees are on task
  • Clearly communicate expectations to staff, and ensure that expectations are met
  • Assign staff to special duties as required

Customer Service

  • Ensure high levels of customers satisfaction through excellent customer service
  • Deal with all issues that arise from staff or customers (complaints, grievances, etc.)
  • Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with customers and other persons in a position to understand the buying demands of customers

ASSISTANT MANAGER JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of two (2) years management experience in a convenience store or similar environment
  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Ability to self-motivate, problem solve and work with minimal supervision
  • Powerful leadership skills and business orientation
  • Demonstrated customer relationship skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to give direction and ensure follow-up
  • Proficiency with computerized point-of-sale systems/cash registers
  • Proficiency with computer and office equipment, including Microsoft Office suite, scanners, fax machines, etc.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to obtain all certifications necessary and required to handle and sell tobacco, fuel, and food service items
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Position requires bending, standing, walking and repetitive use of hands and arms
  • Must have the ability to perform all physical aspects of the position including but not limited to lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, pulling items up to 100 pounds, bending, squatting, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, and reaching
  • Position requires the ability to handle exposure to food and cleaning chemicals on a routine basis
  • Must manage a number of projects at one time and handle frequent interruptions to meet the needs and requests of customers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
