The Payroll Specialist performs accounting and administrative duties to support the payroll department, including processing the hourly/weekly payroll, processing change requests, setting up voluntary deductions, auditing payroll reports, calling out taxes, and resolving payroll issues in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.” This position works close with the Service Clerks, Manager, and HR Department.

Pay Rate: $25.00 - $33.66 per hour
Pay rate is dependent upon education & experience. 

Essential Functions:

  • Sets up new hires in Payroll system
  • Makes changes and updates employee information
  • Enters employee data: time, banking, and personal information
  • Effective time management skills to meet mandatory deadlines
  • Creates the hours report for import
  • Processes the hourly/weekly payroll
  • Verifies and tracks vacation, personal, and sick days
  • Processes A/R and garnishment payments
  • Distributes employee’s checks
  • Prepares the Labor Distribution Report
  • Addresses issues and questions regarding hourly payroll questions from employees and Managers
  • Maintains an organized work space
  • Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
  • Tracks and records information accurately
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Manages customer inquiries and follows up as designated
  • Answers phones as required
  • Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years payroll experience with high levels of confidentiality, detail, and organization
  • 3-5 years customer service experience

Physical Demands & Competencies:

  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing but may require occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Safety & Product Knowledge
  • Typing proficiency (40 words a minute)
  • Ability to multi-task at a high pace
  • Time Management
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Access
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Work Environment:

  • Noise: Moderate
  • Indoors
