The primary role of the Earth Moving Specialist is to increase sales, rentals and Percentage of Industry Sales (PINS) of the Cat product line throughout the territory, year over year. To do this the Specialist will need to become an expert on the products including but not limited to the following: competition; strategies; local manufacturer lost sales; machine features, specifications and operation; parts and service support. The ultimate objective is to be the WECO expert on the subject of the Caterpillar product line and market placement in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.”

Pay Rate: Base Salary Commission 
Pay rate is based upon education & experience. 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform research tasks for Sales Management as requested, including factory calls and availability questions to assist sales reps and customers
  • Perform quoting tasks
  • Be the factory liaison for earth moving issues (to include advisory group participation when applicable), service issues, parts issues and any additional matters that arise. This will require constant internal and external monitoring of problems and opportunities concerning the product line
  • Develop lifecycle strategies for Sales, Rent to Rent, Wagner Rents and Used equipment to effectively manage inventory
  • Function as the internal “go to” contact on behalf of Sales Reps in expediting information and follow-up to ensure customer expectations are met
  • Assist with trade shows, open houses, sales meetings and other similar events
  • Train Sales Reps on the product line, features and selling techniques
  • Answer phone calls for customers, prospects and consultants requesting technical, price or machine availability information
  • Meet with perspective walk-in customers to assess customer’s needs and equipment interest, and obtains credit information to satisfy the customer until appropriate sales person can be contacted
  • Assist sales person in answering availability questions
  • Work with the sales force and customers to demonstrate Caterpillars products in the field when necessary
  • Develop and recommend strategies for PINS.
  • Assist Sales Management in analyzing lost sales data (UCC reports, proactive reports, etc.) in a method that clarifies the status of our PINS.
  • Act as Conquest Account plan driver.
  • Be proficient in the machine application, operation and demonstration of the full Caterpillar product line.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge about new and used equipment and inventory status.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • College Degree Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years machine sales experience; operator experience preferred
  • 3-5 years administrative/clerical experience
  • 3-5 years customer service experience
  • 3-5 years sales experience
  • 3-5 years technical or mechanical experience (machine service/maintenance)

Physical Demands & Competencies:

  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
  • Squatting/Kneeling
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, etc.
  • Medium work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 32 pounds or more
  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Safety & Product Knowledge
  • PC Literacy
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Intermediate knowledge of DBS

Work Environment:

  • Noise: Moderate
  • Indoors and Outdoors

Travel Requirements:

  • 25%- 50%
